Macomb, New York Councilman Steve Burke took some time to speak with Wikinews about his campaign for the U.S. Democratic Party’s 2016 presidential nomination.

Burke, an insurance adjuster and farmer, was elected councilman in Brookhaven, New York in 1979. He left the town after being accused and found not guilty of bribery in the 1980s. Since 1987 he has served as Macomb councilman off-and-on and currently holds the post. From 1993 to 1996 and 1999 to 2002 he worked as chairman of the Democratic Party of St. Lawrence County, New York. Among his many political campaigns, Burke unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 1992 and recently attempted to run for U.S. Congress in 2014 but too many of his ballot petition signatures were found invalid. Burke filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for president in the 2016 election on September 18, 2015 and has qualified for the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire Primary.

With Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn?, Burke discusses his political background, his 2016 presidential campaign, and his policy proposals.

The 108-floor central component of the new World Trade Center in New York City has been officially renamed 1 World Trade Center, ending the Freedom Tower moniker it had sported since 2003.

Freedom Tower was envisioned as a symbol of America’s victory over terrorism. It is currently on track for completion in 2013, with 10 floors partially finished so far.

Port Authority Chairman Anthony Coscia commented on the change, “It’s the one that is easiest for people to identify with — and frankly, we’ve gotten a very interested and warm reception to it.”

Former Governor George Pataki, who revealed the Freedom Tower name nearly six years ago, was critical of the switch, saying “The Freedom Tower is not simply another piece of real estate and not just a name for marketing purposes.”

1 World Trade Center has been the building’s legal name and address for the past two years, with the public change precipitated by the ramp up of construction and the commencement of lease marketing.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg seemed ambivalent to the change, saying “I would like to see it stay the Freedom Tower, but it’s their building, and they don’t need me dumping on it. If they could rent the whole thing by changing the name, I guess they’re going to do that, and they probably, from a responsible point of view, should. From a patriotic point of view, is it going to make any difference?”

The change was approved following the signing of a two-decades-long lease by a Chinese real estate company, which plans to occupy floors 64 through 69. Other future tenants include the U.S. General Services Administration and the New York State Office of General Services.

Mold remediation is particularly important if black mold is present. This is dangerous to the health of the occupants and particularly so if anyone has serious breathing issues. Mold remediation requires very careful examination of the home by a technician from Mold remediation in CT who specializes in mold detection, remediation and mold removal.

Mold remediation in CT requires the specialist to look everywhere black mold can grow. Surprisingly, it can grow on the back of wall paper. Black mold can grow anywhere that is damp for a prolonged period and where there is standing water. Really damp conditions are ideal for black mold growth also.

Once the mold is found, the remediation specialists can begin their work which is essentially encapsulating the mold so the spores do not become airborne. Once the mold is well contained, it can safely be removed from the house. The area where the mold was growing should be treated by chemical recommended by Mold remediation in CT.

Asbestos is a far more serious problem for the homeowner. Federal NESHAP rules mandate that asbestos must be removed in a prescribed method for the building to be compliant. This can only be accomplished by a professional full asbestos removal company. The technicians must be trained and have the specialized knowledge and experience to ensure that you are provided with the following best practices:

* Encapsulation of the Asbestos

* Legal disposal of asbestos

* Site decontamination in compliance with regulations

* Asbestos abatement in demolition projects

* Efficient containment and abatement

The technicians at AA Asbestos Abatement LLC are licensed and certified by Federal and Connecticut regulations. They are fully aware of how to transport asbestos to a disposal site. The asbestos must be wet and sealed in heavy plastic bags for transport to an acceptable landfill. The disposal, storage and transport of asbestos waste at non-worksites is regulated by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA). Local councils can also promulgate regulations if they have the appropriate regulatory authority (ARA). Asbestos is extremely dangerous if it becomes airborne. Many tragic cases of this are now in litigation. If the above procedures are followed, then they are the best protection.

On October 14, 2008, Canadians will be heading to the polls for the federal election. New Democratic Party incumbent David Christopherson is standing for re-election in the riding of Hamilton Centre.

From 1985-1990, he served as a Hamilton City Councillor for Ward Four. He was elected to Ontario legislature in 1990, defeating a Liberal cabinet minister. Under Bob Rae, Christopherson served as Minister of Correctional Services and Solicitor-General. He did not seek re-election to legislature in 2003, opting to run for mayor of Hamilton. Considered a frontrunner, he lost to Larry Di Ianni.

He returned to politics just months later, changing his focus to federal politics. Christopherson beat Liberal cabinet minister Stan Keyes, the incumbent, serving as NDP critic for cities, community infrastructure, labour and steel policy. He has served as a member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Steel Caucus.

Wikinews contacted David Christopherson, to talk about the issues facing Canadians, and what they and their party would do to address them. Wikinews is in the process of contacting every candidate, in every riding across the country, no matter their political stripe. All interviews are conducted over e-mail, and interviews are published unedited, allowing candidates to impart their full message to our readers, uninterrupted.

First elected in 2004, David Christopherson is the only MP to have represented Hamilton Centre, which was created in 2003 from parts of three other ridings. Only 38 km², small versus other area ridings, its located on the south side of Hamilton Harbour. Alphabetically, Christopherson’s challengers are Anthony Giles (Libertarian), John Livingstone (Green), Lisa Nussey (Marxist-Leninist), Leon O’Connor (Conservative), Ryan Sparrow (Communist), and Helen M. Wilson (Liberal).

According to US health officials, New York state governor David Paterson has declared a state of emergency in the state as a result of the H1N1 swine flu outbreak.

The Associated Press news agency reports that the six-page declaration was issued because at least 75 people have died of H1N1 related illnesses in New York since April. Three have died from H1N1 related illnesses just this past week. The declaration also says that human cases of the virus are on the rise.

Paterson says he issued the declaration because “a disaster has occurred throughout New York State, for which the affected local governments are unable to respond adequately.”

The declaration will allow health officials more access to the H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal flu shot. It will also allow for an increase in the number of vaccine doses available in the state and will allow more health care facilities to administer the vaccine, including dentists and pharmacists. Schools with health centers will also be allowed to administer both vaccines.

Despite the declaration, officials stressed that there is no reason to worry. A spokeswoman for the New York State Department of Health, Claire Pospisil, said that “it [the declaration] helps us to be more prepared.”

The order came shortly after US president Barack Obama declared a national emergency last Saturday, a response to the spreading of the virus, which has now been circulated in 46 states.

Eben Moglen, Columbia University Law Professor, will head the newSoftware Freedom Law Center (SFLC). An initial 4 million dollars has been provided by Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) to fund the project.

The law center will provide free legal service for open source projects and developers. In 2004 OSDL established a separate $10 million Linux Legal Defense Fund providing legal support for Linus Torvalds, Linux kernel creator and end user companies subjected to Linux-related litigation by the SCO Group. The new law center will not be affiliated with the OSDL.

“This is about taking care of the goose that laid the golden egg and not letting wolves come in the middle of the night and steal it away,” Moglen said during a press conference. “This is a legal firm not involved so much in litigating and defending as it will be for counseling and advising and nurturing non-profits and to prevent millions of dollars in litigation.”

Moglen will serve as chairman and director-counsel of the non-profit organization. Also on board as directors are: Lawrence Lessig, law professor at Stanford Law School; Daniel Weitzner, director of the World Wide Web Consortium‘s technology and society activities; and Diane Peters, general counsel at the OSDL. Daniel Ravicher, executive director of the Public Patent Foundation, will help manage as legal director.

Moglen, one of the world.s leading experts on copyright law as applied to software, will run the new Law Center from its headquarters in New York City. The Law Center will initially have two full-time intellectual property attorneys on staff and expects to expand to four attorneys later this year. Initial clients for the Law Center include the Free Software Foundation and the Samba Project.

Other services provided by the SFLC include: asset stewardship, to avoid intellectual property claim conflict; license review and compatibility analysis; legal consulting and lawyer training.

The second step in getting a job is having an interview with a potential employer. The first step was sending your application and after careful review by the company, you are seen as candidate for the vacant position.

The employer got this information through an ad that was placed in the paper, referred by someone in the company or a headhunter, or by a person who simply submitted an application via the company’s website.

The first impression employers always look at is your resume. Given the many that apply, this usually takes about 30 seconds and so with the limited words, one must be sure that the resume is well written and grammatically correct.

During the interview, most employers want to know more about person since the resume only gives certain information such as the person’s name, age, address, contact number, social security number, past and current employment.

The employer will likely ask about the experiences, lessons and accomplishments one has done and learned working for another employer. This will usually include how the person handled a situation in the company, the challenges of the job and the relationship with coworkers.

Another question will be the relationship between the applicant and family members. This shows character with how the person interacts with people who are close and those that know the person for a long time.

The employer will usually ask why the person applied in the company and where you would like to be in 5 to 10 years. Long term questions such as this will show if there is dedication for the job at hand and if the company can provide something beneficial for both the applicant and the employer.

Companies follow a certain budget in hiring qualified personnel which is why the interviewer will ask how much one desires to get for the job. If what is being asked is too high, the employer will usually ask if the salary is open to negotiation.

After the employer asks questions, room is usually given for the applicant to ask questions in return. This is the best time to know a little bit more the company one might be working in and to get a feel of the potential company.

If there are no more questions, the interviewer will then end the meeting and call the applicant back if the person has passed the initial interview so that the next phase of the application process can begin.

SIX MISTAKES DURING A JOB INTERVIEW

1. You talk too much

The advantages of the fact that you are open to discussions and you are decided to persuade the fact that you are the best can turn against you. There is the risk of boring the other person with so many details and you can even look like you don’t have the cap city to concentrate on one given subject.

2. You don’t listen

Assure that the answers will are about to give is the one the question is asking for. This is a test that will demonstrate the employer that your future project will follow the exact steps he’s expecting.

3. Falling for it

An experienced recruiter will set you the trap of relaxation, trying to make you believe this is an interview with a little importance. This does not mean that you have to avoid jokes or affirmations that have nothing to do with the professional area, but you must always promptly go back to the subject of the discussion.

4. You are trying to take the lead

If you try this you can seem arrogant. Companies tend to search for people that can work efficiently in a team. When talking about thinks you’ve done on previous jobs try to use instead of ‘I’ the pronoun ‘We’ as often as possible.

5. You don’t ask questions

Try and make a discussion as professional as possible, asking questions that are right on the subject. Make realistic observation regarding the company and avoid emphasis.

6. You are late

Many employers can’t understand why the candidates continue to be late, so being on time or not has a great importance in their decision. If you can’t make it on the settled hour, call in time and try to reschedule the meeting, depending on the person that conducts the interview.

They are cheap, useful, and very plentiful, and that is exactly the problem, according to researchers. A report issued on Feb. 23 by a cadre of environment and economics researchers suggested that Kenya should ban the common plastic bag that one gets at the checkout counter of grocery stores, and place a levy on other plastic bags, all to combat the country’s environmental problems stemming from the bags’ popularity.

David Hempleman-Adams left St. John’s at approximately 9:30 p.m. local time on July 2, 2007 from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador in a small helium filed balloon in an attempt to make the Trans-Atlantic crossing in the smallest balloon ever to make such a crossing. The final destination of the landing is not known and will be determined as the flight nears its end. The craft is made of light weight material with just enough space for necessary equipment and cooking implements. The basket is small and has openings in the side for Hempleman-Adams to extend his legs as he sleeps. Hempleman-Adams is hoping to make the crossing in three to four days and reach Europe by July 5 or 6th.

What is Pharmacology? To get to know what pharmacology is first we need to know what a drug is and what do it do.A drug is a chemical material which can be a man-made, natural, or endogenous (within the body) molecule used in the cure, treatment, prevention, or diagnosis of any illness or disease, or else used to enhance physical or mental well-being of a human being or any other living creature.Pharmacology is the division of medicine and biology related with the study and effect of drug action. To be more precise, it is the study of the connections that happen between a living organism and chemicals having an impact on normal or abnormal biochemical function. The two principal areas of pharmacology are pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Pharmacodynamics is a study on the effects of a drug on the biological system and pharmacokinetics is a study on the effects of biological systems on the drug. Initial pharmacologists were engrossed in natural substances, mainly plant extracts. It started developing in the 19th century as a biomedical science. Nowadays pharmacologists confine to the molecular biology, power of genetics, chemistry, and additional innovative tools to alter information about molecular mechanisms and targets into therapies focused to prevent disease, deficiencies or pathogens, and generate techniques for preventative care, diagnostics, and ultimately personalized medicine. The basic attributes of pharmacology are:The dosage and effect relationshipThe localization of the site of actionsThe relationship between chemical structure and biological activity of substancesWhy nursing students need to study pharmacology? Throughout Pharmacology Nursing, Nurses are licensed to administer medications to patient. Even though the doctor choses what medicines to give to the patient, the nurse are responsible to recognize:1.How the medication works within the body.2.Be capable to explain to the patient how it works, side effects, how often to take and why.3.Simply how much of each medication is acceptable.4.How the medicine is usually to be administered (pill, simply by mouth-liquids, by jaws or IV, and so on).5.How to be able to reconstitute a Mediterranean sea (for example some medicines also come in powdered form and really need certain fluids included in them right just before being administered-this is reconstituting).6.How usually can a medicine be provided (if a Mediterranean sea is given constantly or not generally enough, it could possibly harm or definitely not help the patient).7.Potential side effects and what to monitor the patient for. There are a number of other reasons, but most important is how the nurse or nursing student needs to understand about pharmacology nursing as well as the medicines they give since they are responsible for the actions. By giving the medicine, it places just as much responsibility on the nurse, as around the Physician. Physician, like nurses and pharmacists are designed for making errors-by almost all 3 being responsible and accountable for errors increases the reality for safer medication administration to the patient.
