How much do car dealerships take of a damaged car?

Posted in: car dealerships | | 10 Comments »>

On the May bank holiday I ordered a new car with my old car as part-exchange. A couple of weeks ago someone keyed my car and I’m not sure whether to get it fixed, own up to the dealership or just leave it and hope they don’t notice it. Help please!
My old car is 4 years old and I manged to squeeze £4500 out of them. The scratch is about 30cm long.

I wouldnt bother with it. Chances are it wont make much of a difference in your old cars value.

Unless they took pictures of it, how do they know it wasnt there before when they appraised it ?

The same manager might not even be there when you go back.

I am planing to buy a new car but i will like to know the differences of financing via banks or credit union, and also what is dealership finance compare to bank finance.

Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool – carquotes.sinfree.net

Is this type of auto financing possible?

I have a car that with a loan payoff of $17K. I would like to trade it in for a car of the same year, different model. I know my car sells for around $13K, and the car I want to trade it in for sells for around $15K, $12K after a rebate. Is it possible for someone to have a car lot pay off their loan and add the negative equity from the payoff to a new car loan? Do you have to have REALLY good credit to get this?

Yes you can do this. HOWEVER, unless there is something seriously wrong with the car you are in, it is a VERY BAD IDEA. You will be paying INTEREST on the NEGATIVE equity. When you want to trade again in a few years, you will have ALOT more negative equity to deal with.

Best thing you can do is to PAY DOWN the current loan. If you were to send in an extra 100-150/month with every payment, you will begin to pay down the loan quickly.

DO NOT send in double payments, or 2 coupons and 2 payments. It will not save you any money. If you could afford to send in that amount of money, do it like this: Write one check for the current amount due, and write another one for another amount. At the bottom of the 2nd check, in the "notes" or "for" line on the bottom left side of the check, write: "For Principal". What this will do is go directly to the principal of the loan, and you will end paying less in interest over the longrun of the loan.

How much do auto dealers pay at auctions?

Posted in: auto dealers | | 5 Comments »>

I’m looking at an 02 or 03 VW Jetta GLS. I’m finding most are priced usually between 10-14k. Does anyone know how much a dealer would generally pay for the same car at auction.

That particular car would be bought at about 3 grand back of wholesale book. So what you need to do since you know the specifics of the car go to Edmund’s or kbb and put in the options and mileage on the car you are looking at get the wholesale book and subtract about three grand. Now keep in mind that’s what they paid for it there is still a cost incurred for smog and any other repairs that the car may have needed and most dealerships put about a 500 pack on used so if you could get the car for 1,000 to 1,500 back of wholesale you got a good deal.(I work in the auto sale business)

Can you recommend good sources for buying used cars in Toronto Canada?

Posted in: used cars | | 2 Comments »>

Any Canadian sites (other than craigslist that I am already aware of) or specific local paper you recommend advertising used cars? THANKS.

Autotrader.ca is a good source….

Two dealers that I have dealt with before that are decent service and great prices are:

Dixie 401 Automall (especially the Daewoo), and Focus on Value at Keele close to the 401

People who live in Clermont, FL area only!!! Where do you go to buy accessories for your car or truck?

Posted in: truck accessories | | 1 Comment »>

I want people who live in Clermont, FL to answer this question, not some idiot who looks online for the info… Seriously, where do you get your window tint, audio systems, wheels, tires, chrome, lift kits, exhaust, etc.??? Do you drive to Orlando? Would it be convenient if there was someplace right in the Clermont area?

well I live in Gainesville….there are really good shops in Orlando, specifically the one I believe Pipo owns, who is world famous for having one of the loudest musical vehicles in the world. But personally, I order 90% of my equipment online. If you have to go to a shop, I would look up Pipo and go to his.

How many years can someone face if they steal a car or car parts?

Posted in: car parts | | 5 Comments »>

If someone stole a car and took it’s parts, how many years would this person face – on average?

there is no real average for this crime as it has many factors that govern sentencing. if the car was taken during the commission of another crime, if you have prior convictions, was the car taken while the owner occupied the car, etc. If you average the time it usually comes out to about five to ten years in a state facility.
